ORNAMENTAL GRASSES

Graceful Movement, Year-Round Texture

Ornamental grasses bring color, texture, and motion to gardens and landscapes. With their tall plumes, soft blades, and seasonal interest, they add life and structure in ways few other plants can. At Courville Nurseries, we have thousands of ornamental grasses in stock, ready for both small gardens and large landscape projects.

What to Know About Ornamental Grasses

  • Invasiveness - Some species spread aggressively. Stick to well-behaved varieties like Miscanthus, Switch grass, and Fountain Grass.
  • Self-seeding - Certain types may reseed if not cut back. Removing plumes before seeds drop helps control spread.
  • Winter dieback - Most ornamental grasses die back to the ground in winter. This is normal, and new growth returns in spring.
  • Crowding - Over time, large clumps can die out in the middle; dividing prevents this.
